A Synergy Podcast

The and... Podcast

Why does everything have to be either/or? The and... Podcast explores the places where experiences, identities, relationships, and ideas intersect.

Each conversation examines how multiple truths can coexist and what those intersections can teach us about being human.

Why ‘and’?

‘And’ is a small word with an important purpose. It connects ideas, experiences, people, and parts of ourselves that are often treated as opposites.

Shawn Welty is a therapist, podcast host, member of a large family, self-described geek, and music lover. No single role tells the complete story. The same is true of mental health and everyday life.

A person can feel anxious and capable. They can grieve and continue moving forward. They can want connection and need stronger boundaries. The podcast creates room to explore these intersections without reducing people to a single label or an either-or answer.

Grounded conversations with everyday experts

Episodes explore mental health, relationships, personal growth, music, culture, and the many ways psychology intersects with ordinary life. Shawn speaks with people about subjects they know, experiences that shaped them, and ideas that may help listeners see familiar challenges from another perspective.

  • Multiple truths can exist at the same time.
  • Mental health intersects with relationships, identity, work, culture, and creativity.
  • Useful insight can come from both professional knowledge and lived experience.
